Relational
Discipleship
Each component of the LifeChange program is designed to promote
personal relationships – with God, with staff, with peers and with
families. Personal accountability is promoted through activities,
counseling, teaching, ministry opportunities and personal
relationships. LifeChange staff members are strong Christians,
offering tremendous grace and compassion when needed, and strength
and discipline when necessary. Prayer for inner healing and for
freedom from destructive attitudes and habits, as appropriate, is a
significant facet of LifeChange’s program.
Home Atmosphere
LifeChange offers a home-like, relaxed atmosphere in The Scott
Street House, a well-appointed private home on a quiet street with a
shared bath and laundry for program residents. Each bedroom houses 2
participants, who are cared for by house parents. House parents
coordinate needs such as doctor visits and transport participants to
appointments. They also distribute medicine according to
prescriptions and generally monitor the health of each participant,
caring for them in times of illness and ensuring they get medical
attention if needed. The emphasis of The Scott Street House is
‘home’ – from the first day, each participant is welcomed as family,
with all the benefits and expectations of a biblically-principled
home life.
Location
Catskill Mountain Christian Center’s LifeChange program is located
in Margaretville, NY – in the heart of the beautiful Catskill
Mountains of New York State. Although a small community (pop. 600),
the Village of Margaretville offers common conveniences along with a
modern hospital, area dentists, a public school and our affiliated
Christian Academy. There is no cell phone access in most of our area
and the nearest main population center is Kingston, NY,
approximately 50 miles away, where the nearest mall & movie theatre
are. This somewhat secluded, picturesque atmosphere offers an ideal
setting for LifeChange’s transforming work. Participants are not
exposed to a number of the ‘normal American life’ distractions.
Along with gorgeous mountains, plush forests and gurgling streams, the Margaretville area is home to a number of farms allowing a window into a lifestyle sure to nourish the soul and there are many artists and artisans that find the Catskills a perfect environment to stimulate their creativity. On the other hand, New York City, the Big Apple itself, is under 3 hours away, where cultural and ministry events and opportunities are abundant. LifeChange’s staff includes experts in rural farm life, as well as those experienced with NYC-life.
Seasonal outdoor activities abound, and are encouraged –skiing, snowboarding and skating at locally renown resorts are available, as are opportunities for hiking, biking, swimming, tennis, basketball and soccer.

Created from the hub of church life at Catskill Mountain Christian
Center, LifeChange engages residents in various service
opportunities and activities to enjoy. Regular church and ‘home
group’ attendance is required, but many other weekly activities
offer options to meet individual needs and fit her personality:
